The Blue Mountains GP Network is an incorporated association of members. Full Membership is open to any registered medical practitioner in general practice in the Blue Mountains Local Government Area.
Every member of the Network attends Network activities or receives support from the Network. Membership is free.
- Full Membership is open to any registered medical practitioner in general practice in the Blue Mountains Local Government Area.
- Associate Membership is open to any medical practitioner who does not qualify for full membership, but who is able to satisfy the Board that they have a primary interest in general practice in the Blue Mountains.
Services to Members
- We promote general practice as the cornerstone of primary healthcare in the Blue Mountains.
- We facilitate GP representation at national, state and local forums.
- We foster strategic partnerships to enable GP input into local health services by sitting on key local committees to present issues raised by local GPs.
- We run an immunisation program, providing assistance, training and leadership to local GPs to achieve the aims of the National Immunisation Program.
- We work with GPs to reduce chronic disease morbidity and mortality.
- We are part of a strong mental health network and we help to increase access to mental health care and provide ongoing education to GPs.
- We consult with consumers and community groups to inform our activities.
- We support general practices to attract GPs and GP registrars.
- We provide support to practice nurses and practice managers through networking meetings.
- We produce monthly GP Newsletters to inform of the activities of the Network, information around current health issues, services for GPs, training opportunities, conferences and patient resources.
